So, our buddy Richard Thomann (Fishbugman) was kind enough to take me out to the bay fishing last week....great day on the water with several sand bass, bay bass, a few halibut, mackeral, and a lifetime's supply of lizardfish...just a great time....at least until he shared what he saved for THIS week! 38+ lbs!

He's too modest to make this post, but knew you folks would like a peek.....I hope her big sister is still out there! nice, score, Rich!

Behold the mighty fisherman

A fine catch Richard. Lots of fish sticks in there.

Assuming that you're not a vegan.

Actually, it wasn't quite as big as John said but then John thinks he is 5 3/4 inches....exaggerates everything. Wink

Laugh if you want at the Crocs, but for those of you with back pain it might pay to give them a try. I have only wore shoes 3 times in the past 3 years (Mother's Day, Christmas family dinner & one funeral) and haven't had a back problem since making fun of a friend who was wearing them back in 2007. The orange ones were a $3 garage sale purchase, but I also have 2pr green, tan, aqua, dark brown and 2pr of dress black ones. On the boat, they eliminate the jolt of pounding waves/swell at speed and allow me to enjoy a full day of fishing. No wife Dave....she was too small and smelled fishy so I threw her back.

LOL.....Just couldn't pass up the opportunity!
Green might have been more esthetically appropriate, but then....

You were goin' FISHIN' and comfort there, is the priority. Based on the Halibut......Orange might be your lucky color! Wink

Got this one on Tuesday......22 pounds. Lost another just short of the net that was around 30lbs. Lost count at 95 fish for my Dad and I.....mainly spotted bay bass & barred sand bass, a half dozen short halibut and about 30 lizardfish.

Also, the obligatory "Croc"h shot with the remainder of this weeks food fare

Note that The Green Crocs were again the choice of the day.

Richard - You really know how to find the fish! I can relate to your Croc story, although my job still requires something approximating dress shoes. But after work and weekends? I put on the Tevas. Good for the back, great for getting wet when I go kayaking or wet wading/ fly fishing.
Thanks for sharing all those fish photos. The kids look almost as happy as you and your dad!

Richard, I probably own about 10 pairs of Tevas also. They were always the footwear of choice for me in 1980's-90's until Crocs came along. The main reason I changed over was because I got tired of having the top of my foot sunburnt.

Glad you had fun John.....I really think the fishing will pick up as soon as we get out of this full moon phase. Some people prefer the full moon, especially for night fishing, but I have always found the 2-3 days before and after full moon to be the slower time to catch fish in daytime since fish end up feeding at night during full moon. Yes, John caught more fish total since I set him up with an old Pflueger #2 wobbler/flasher, but I had the excuse of being lazy/dazed from spending the entire prior night sitting on the squid grounds in La Jolla catching 60 pounds of mackerel for lobster bait and two 5 gallon buckets full of squid for calamari and bait, plus all the associated cleaning and prep and vacuum packing. We had a 30 foot circle of schooled up squid under the boat for 8-10 hours with lots of feeding visitors showing up in the lights....aw, but no targeted white seabass or yellowtail. Sure beats sleeping.....
